Common drivers include reducing time spent searching for information across fragmented systems, improving consistency in responses, accelerating decision-making, and capturing institutional knowledge that currently resides in individuals rather than systems.
In each case, generative AI is not valuable because it produces language. It is valuable because it improves the quality, speed, and confidence of decisions that already matter.
Once those outcomes are defined, architectural decisions follow naturally.
Questions about where models run, whether workloads belong in the cloud, on-prem, or in a hybrid model, which data should be accessible, how responses should be constrained, and how costs behave over time all stem from organizational intent.
This is where enterprise IT plays a critical role. Not as the owner of the problem, but as the function enabling the organization to move deliberately rather than reactively.
One of the biggest risks with generative AI is not misuse. It is misplaced confidence.
